Description: The improvement of health status among Roma people requires multidisciplinary and multi- sectoral approach, cooperation among different stakeholders, and mutual trust. This video elaborates on the different activities organized by ROMA S.O.S., the relevance of its work, and impact on the ground around identified obstacles. Education, field visits, legal support, court protection, communication, realization of rights and acquiring documents, access to information about changes and additions of public politics, access to services, and media presentation are some of the problems faced by Roma in their access to healthcare.

Description: This video describes the difficulty Ugandan mothers face when trying to access maternal health services. Women of the Manyi village detail the troubles they face in trying to access healthcare when traveling to faraway hospitals. The lack of accessibility to healthcare and transportaion services often leads to death.

Description: Since 2013, UNHCO has implemented a project supported by the Open Society Initiative for Eastern Africa (OSIEA). The project focuses on the empowerment of communities to demand and participant in improving health service delivery in different parts of Uganda. UNHCO was able to popularize the right to health and the patients’ charter by increasing interest and involvement of other civil society actors in Uganda.

Description: This video tells the story of how patient organizations overcame their situation of state funding for HIV/AIDS treatment in Ukraine. Funding has always been residual and insufficient and many HIV-positive patients all over the country were left without treatment. HIV-positive children, and children whose relatives were HIV-infected, signed postcards addressed to their state representatives - «Let me live!». 500 cards were personally collected for the President, which were hand delivered to him right after the press conference at the Children’s Center for HIV-positive children. Immediately following the press conference, the presidential order to the Prime Minister was signed to madate full financing for treatment of HIV-positive people in Ukraine.

Description: In Ukraine approximately 8% of citizens are infected with hepatitis B and C, tuberculosis, and HIV. Despite this fact, until the year 2013, Ukrainians did not have access to treatment of Hepatitis C because of the failed establishment of a state-sponsored program. This video was created to illustrate the result of an organized patients’ action. They asked for help and to procure medicines for patients who will inevitably die due to the absence of treatment.

Description: HOPS continues to raise awareness about the seriousness of the lack of treatment programs for resocialization and rehabilitation for children who use drugs, which provides their complete reintegration into society. HOPS is concerned about the dynamics of the Ministry of Health, who works on the manufacture of the protocol for the treatment of children using drugs. The protocol has been in preparation since 2012 and has still not been established. Although the current state with the number of children using drugs every year is getting worse, there is no adequate response from relevant institutions.

Description: In this video ESE presents findings from the budget monitoring and analysis for realization and budget changes of the Ministry of Health's program for active health protection of mothers and children. The five Roma women featured in the video touch on issues of poor living conditions, limited access to health services, including outreach services, low level of immunization of their children, discrimination of Roma people in the immunization ward, non-implementation of health educational activities in Roma communities, non delivery of the invitations for vaccination in the Roma communities, and out of pocket payments related to immunization.

Description: A Roma woman shares her personal story of having had surgical treatment for cancer of uterine cervix seven years ago. She regularly visited the gynecologist leading up to her diagnosis, but the gynecologist never performed a PAP smear. A gynecologist from the primary health care explains why it is important for women to get a PAP smear. Advocacy messages are displayed towards the end of the video in support of improved coverage of women, especially Roma women, with the program.

Description: On the 17th of December, sex workers, their advocates, allies, friends and families gathered around the world to denounce all acts of violence against sex workers. In this video, sex workers from Serbia, Macedonia, Spain, Turkey and Romania talk about human rights violations they face in their countries. Agata Dziuban from ICRSE presents powerful evidence that states that sex work has to be decriminalised and sex workers must be involved and heard in order to achieve an effective global HIV response.
